Lars Weiss (born 1971) is a member of the Copenhagen City Council representing the Social Democrats. As of August 29, 2024, he serves as Lord Mayor of Copenhagen following Sophie Hæstorp Andersen’s transition to the role of Minister for Social Affairs and Housing. He previously held the position from October 19, 2020, to December 31, 2021, after the resignation of former Lord Mayor Frank Jensen.
With a background in economics and additional training in communication (CFJE), Lars Weiss has been a key figure in Copenhagen’s municipal politics for over a decade. Since 2010, he has been a member of the Finance Committee and the Technical and Environmental Committee, as well as 1st Vice Chair of the City Council and Group Leader for the Social Democrats at Copenhagen City Hall.
Lars Weiss has held several board positions within City of Copenhagen, including Vice Chairman of HOFOR, Chairman of Amager Resource Center (ARC) and Vice Chairman of the Copenhagen Metro Company.
