Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen is Chair for Healthcare Denmark and former President and Chief Executive Officer of Novo Nordisk A/S.

He joined Novo Nordisk A/S in 1991 as an economist and has over his 34 years with Novo Nordisk served roles in Europe, USA and Japan with increasing responsibilities and experience from working in finance, manufacturing, commercial, quality, human resources, strategy and business development units. Lars was promoted Executive Vice President in 2013 and served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Novo Nordisk A/S from January 2017 until August 2025.

Lars holds a master’s degree in economics and business administration from Aarhus University.

Board member of European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) 2021-2025. First as Vice President 2021-2023 and then as President 2023-2025.

Board member of The Danish National Bank since 2024.
