Jens Nielsen is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BioInnovation Institute in Copenhagen.

Jens is a civil engineer and holds a PhD from DTU. He was a Fullbright visiting professor at MIT in 1995-1996 and was appointed professor at DTU in 1998. 

In 2008 he moved to Sweden where he was appointed professor at Chalmers University of Technology. In 2011 he returned to DTU on a part-time basis when he co-founded DTU Biosustain, a large research center supported by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, where he was Research Director. In 2019 he was appointed CEO of the BioInnovation Institute, a more than 3 billion kroner initiative by the Novo Nordisk Foundation that supports innovation in life science and quantum technology.  

Jens has published more than 900 scientific articles and is one of the most cited researchers in Europe.

On October 9 at Maersk Tower, Jens will take part in the panel debate How to Boost Private Investment in Start-ups an Scale-ups: The Role of Policy Reform and Support Mechanisms.
