Ernst Kuipers

Ernst Kuipers is Vice President (Research) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He served as Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport of the Netherlands. Prior to his ministerial role, he was President and CEO of Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, and Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Departments of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Internal Medicine, and Surgery. He was also a member of the Governing Board of the National University Health System in Singapore, a member of the Board of Curaçao Medical Center, and chair of the Federation of Dutch UMC’s as well as the European University Hospital Alliance. He trained and practiced as internist and gastroenterologist.

Professor Kuipers is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association, Honorary Member of the European Helicobacter & Microbiota Study Group, and an Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong Society of Gastroenterology. He is the recipient of various awards including the Ismar Boas Medal of the German Gastroenterology Society. King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands installed him as Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
